Nicholas County is located in the heart of southern West Virginia.  As part of the New River Gorge region, Nicholas County offers many outdoor recreation activities, with several revolving around water.  If you like boating, fishing, skiing, rafting, scuba diving, jet skiing, or sun bathing, then Nicholas County is the place for you.  Summersville Lake and the Gauley River National Recreation Area are the perfect destinations for your family's summer fun.

In addition to all the water activities, you can go hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing and camping.  And if motorcycles are your thing, you will find lots of mountain trails and byways to explore with scenic vistas that will take your breath away.
